Man arrested for unlicensed firearm possession in Antique

A 34-YEAR-OLD man was arrested for possessing an unlicensed firearm during a police search in Barangay Funda Dalipe, San Jose, Antique, at 5:22 a.m. on Saturday, March 22, 2025.

Police identified the suspect as Lando, a resident of the area.

Authorities seized a caliber .38 revolver and four live cartridges from his possession.

The search warrant was issued by the court in San Jose, Antique, on the same day.

Police Regional Office in Western Visayas Director Brigadier General Jack Wanky assured the public that the region's police are actively working to address the remaining undocumented firearms.

“We commend the swift action of the San Jose Municipal Police Station that resulted in the arrest of the subject and seizure of his unlicensed firearm," he said.

Wanky urged individuals with unlicensed firearms to voluntarily surrender them to the nearest police unit.

The suspect is now in police custody and will face charges for violating Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act. (Leo Solinap)
