MEGAWORLD Corporation, through its hospitality arm Megaworld Hotels & Resorts, is set to increase its nationwide hotel room inventory to 9,000 keys by 2030 as it expands its footprint across the Philippines.

To meet the target, Megaworld will open seven new hotel properties in key destinations:

  • the 554-room Chancellor Hotel in Boracay Newcoast;

  • the 404-room Belmont Hotel Iloilo in Iloilo Business Park;

  • the 300-room The Kingsford in The Upper East Bacolod;

  • the 304-room Savoy Hotel Palawan and the 313-room Paragua Sands in Paragua Coastown, San Vicente, Palawan;

  • the 373-room Savoy Capital Town in Capital Town, San Fernando, Pampanga;

  • and the 339-room ArcoVia Hotel in ArcoVia City, Pasig City.

“It is Alliance Global Group’s thrust to strengthen and streamline our hospitality portfolio as we look to attract and welcome more tourists, more conventions, and more events in our hotel developments,” said Kevin L. Tan, president and CEO of Alliance Global Group, the parent company of Megaworld.

“The inclusion of international hotels in our portfolio will further cement our position as the largest hotel operator in the country for both local and international hotels. Through this expansion program, we aim to continue to grow and strengthen our contribution to the Philippine tourism industry,” said Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso, president and CEO of Megaworld.

As of now, Megaworld Hotels & Resorts operates 13 hotel properties totaling about 6,000 rooms in tourism hubs like Metro Manila, Tagaytay, Cebu, and Boracay.

These properties include:

  • Richmonde Hotels: Richmonde Hotel Ortigas, Eastwood Richmonde Hotel, and Richmonde Hotel Iloilo;

  • Belmont Hotels: Belmont Manila, Belmont Boracay, and Belmont Mactan;

  • Savoy Hotels: Savoy Manila, Savoy Mactan, and Savoy Boracay;

  • Hotel Lucky Chinatown;

  • Twin Lakes Hotel;

  • Kingsford Hotel Manila;

  • Grand Westside Hotel.

In addition, the 15-story Courtyard by Marriott Iloilo in Iloilo Business Park (IBP), with 326 rooms, will be consolidated under the company’s portfolio this year. This move will further increase Megaworld’s current total room count.

Also within the year, Belmont Hotel Mactan in the 30-hectare The Mactan Newtown in Cebu will transition into Mercure Mactan Cebu, an Accor-branded international hotel.

Over the next five years, at least five more existing homegrown hotels under Megaworld Hotels & Resorts will rebrand into Accor-branded international hotels. This strategic alignment allows the company to operate both domestic and global hotel brands under one umbrella.

Earlier this year, Megaworld Hotels & Resorts formally announced its partnership with Accor, one of the world’s largest hotel operators, to elevate its hotel offerings and further solidify its market leadership. (Leo Solinap/SunStar Philippines)
