

THE 61st Infantry (Hunter) Battalion officially welcomed its newly assigned officers and enlisted personnel during a ceremonial pinning of the Hunter Seal at the Headquarters in Camp Monteclaro, Barangay Igtuba, Miagao, Iloilo on July 12, 2025.
Lieutenant Colonel Arturo Balgos Jr., commanding officer of the 61IB, led the event and administered the pinning rites. The ceremony marked the formal integration of the new members into the unit.
The newly assigned personnel include Second Lieutenant Jester D. Flores, Second Lieutenant Sonny B. De Guzman, Second Lieutenant Jay Jomari Kent E. Coliao, Second Lieutenant Warren Bejec, Private Jhon Paul Z. Dugenio, Private Joemar R. Hijosa, and Private John Birth S. Sisnorio.
In his message, Balgos Jr. emphasized the values that define the Hunter Troopers and the responsibilities that come with joining the unit.
“As part of the Hunter Battalion, you carry a legacy of honor and bravery. Embrace the challenges ahead and lead with discipline, loyalty, and a commitment to the people,” Balgos Jr. told the new personnel.
He also reminded the soldiers to maintain professionalism, unity, and dedication to duty as they serve the communities of Western Visayas.
The battalion staff welcomed the officers and enlisted men by highlighting the importance of upholding peace and security in the region.
During the ceremony, each of the newly assigned members introduced themselves and expressed their expectations and commitment to their roles.
The event served as a symbolic start of their service with the 61IB, underlining the battalion’s continued efforts to enhance its operational strength.
The 61IB is one of the Philippine Army's frontline units under the 3rd Infantry Division. It plays a key role in ensuring internal peace and security operations in Western Visayas. (Leo Solinap)
