A TOTAL of 85 grams of shabu worth P595,000 were seized during a buy-bust conducted by the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PDEU) of the Antique Police Provincial Office (Anppo) in District III, Sibalom, Antique, at 12:52 a.m. on July 15, 2025.
Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, regional director of the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6), commended the personnel involved for the successful operation.
"I commend our operating teams for their good work in arresting the suspect and seizing illegal drugs. This shows our strong commitment to the fight against illegal drugs in the region," he said.
Ligan emphasized the ongoing efforts of PRO 6 to ensure the safety and drug-free environment in Western Visayas, warning those involved in illegal drug activities.
The suspect, identified only as alias Win, 32, a backhoe operator and a resident of Valderrama, Antique, was arrested by law enforcement authorities during the operation.
The operation was carried out by the PDEU-Anppo in coordination with the Station Drug Enforcement Team of the Sibalom Municipal Police Station and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Antique.
Seized from the suspect were six heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substances believed to be shabu, buy-bust money, one black and orange Mio Yamaha motorcycle without a plate number, and one multi-colored coin purse.
The arrested suspect is currently under the custody of the authorities and will face charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Leo Solinap)
