
POLICE in Iloilo City conducted a buy-bust operation with Iloilo City Police Station (ICPS) 10 in Barangay Tabucan, Mandurriao District, Iloilo City at 12:25 a.m. Thursday, January 16, 2025.
This led to the apprehension of a high-value suspect and the confiscation of approximately 105 grams of suspected shabu valued at P714,000.
Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6) Director Brigadier General Jack Wanky praised the Iloilo City Police Office (Icpo) for its vigorous campaign against illegal drugs.
“I commend everyone for the successful operation. This is a significant accomplishment in our ongoing fight to end the problem of illegal drugs. Police Regional Office 6 remains steadfast in ensuring the safety and security of the general public and our ongoing law enforcement operations across the region are a clear manifestation of our strong commitment and relentless endeavors to clear our communities from all forms of illegal activities,” Wanky said.
The suspect, identified as alias Tengloy, 40, and a resident of Barangay Taal, Molo District, Iloilo City, was found in possession of 21 plastic sachets containing the suspected illegal drugs.
From January 6 to January 12, 2025, PRO 6 carried out a weeklong simultaneous anti-criminality and law enforcement operation, dubbed “Birada Semana,” which resulted in the apprehension of 461 law violators region-wide.
Of these, 113 individuals were arrested for violating the illegal drugs law.
The suspect is now under police custody and will be charged with violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (TPM/SunStar Philippines)
