

POLICE Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6) has placed all units on full alert status and intensified security measures across the region ahead of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s fourth State of the Nation Address (Sona) on July 28, 2025.
Police Brigadier General Josefino D. Ligan, regional director of PRO 6, said authorities are actively monitoring potential threats while strengthening security protocols to ensure public safety during the presidential address.
"We are actively monitoring potential threats and continuously strengthening our security measures to guarantee the safety and protection of the public," Ligan said.
The regional director emphasized that while primary security preparations for the Sona are concentrated in Metro Manila, PRO 6 remains proactive in securing local communities and public spaces throughout Western Visayas.

All police units under PRO 6 have been directed to maintain heightened vigilance and operational readiness as part of comprehensive security measures implemented for the presidential address scheduled for Monday.
The directive covers law enforcement agencies across Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan, Antique, Guimaras, provinces, ensuring coordinated security response throughout the region during the national event.
PRO 6 reminded the public that while freedom of expression rights are respected, all assemblies and public activities must remain peaceful, lawful, and considerate of public order requirements.
Ligan called on residents to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative as law enforcement agencies work to maintain safe and secure environments across Western Visayas communities.
The enhanced protocols reflect standard procedures used by law enforcement agencies during significant national events, particularly presidential addresses.
Authorities encourage citizens to report suspicious activities and cooperate with security measures to maintain peace and order.
