
POLICE confiscated two firearms and arrested two suspects in separate operations in Victorias City and Sagay City on March 13, 2025, for violations of Republic Act (RA) 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act of 2013.
Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6) Director Brigadier General Jack L. Wanky lauded the operations and the cooperation of the community.
“The seizure of these firearms will reduce the possibility of their use in criminal activities. PRO 6 remains steadfast and committed to accounting for the remaining loose firearms in the region to ensure the safety and security of the general public,” Wanky said.
At 5:02 a.m., authorities arrested an individual known as alias Haren in Hacienda Basa, Barangay 10, Victorias City, and seized a caliber .38 revolver with four live cartridges.
The 605th Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB) in Western Visayas, supported by the Victorias City Police Station (CCPS), led the operation.
An hour later, at 6:45 a.m., police arrested alias Hara, 53, in Barangay Tadlong, Sagay City, and recovered a caliber .38 revolver with six live cartridges. The Sagay CCPS conducted the operation.
Both suspects remain in police custody and will face charges under RA 10591. (Leo Solinap/SunStar Philippines)
