THE Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6) inspected its disaster response equipment on May 21, 2025 in preparation for the rainy season and potential natural disasters.
Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky, PRO 6 director, led the inspection, which coincided with a nationwide effort by other Philippine National Police (PNP) regional offices.
"As we strengthen our disaster response equipment capability, we will also enhance our personnel’s preparedness through continuous training and improved coordination with local government units and other government agencies," Wanky said.
The inspection ensured the readiness of rescue tools, communication equipment, transport vehicles, and other essential gear. Functionality and immediate deployment availability were checked for all items.
This initiative is part of a PNP-wide program to assess disaster response assets' availability and effectiveness. It aims to improve police units' preparedness for search, rescue, and retrieval operations, especially during climate change-intensified calamities.
By maintaining reliable equipment and improving inter-agency coordination, PRO 6 strengthens its role in safeguarding communities through law enforcement and timely emergency and disaster response. (Leo Solinap/SunStar Philippines)
