POLICE in Western Visayas arrested 171 drug suspects and seized more than P41 million worth of illegal drugs in July.
The Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6) conducted 130 anti-drug operations, confiscating approximately 6,081 grams of suspected shabu and 30 grams of marijuana.
PRO 6 Regional Director Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan urged police to continue their efforts. He said officers should identify suspect associates and subject them to law enforcement operations if necessary.
"These numbers reflect your dedication and commitment to fulfilling your sworn duties," Ligan said.
The operations led to the arrest of 61 high-value individuals and 110 street-level individuals. This reflects PRO 6's efforts to dismantle drug networks at various levels.
The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) led all units with 77 operations and 88 arrests. The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) followed with 33 arrests from 25 operations. The Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) arrested 16 individuals in seven operations, while the Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) also reported 16 arrests from 11 operations.
The RPDEU recorded the highest volume of drugs seized, recovering approximately 2,050 grams of suspected shabu.
All arrested individuals face charges for violating Republic Act (RA) 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Leo Solinap/SunStar Philippines)
