THE opening of classes for Academic Year 2025–2026 in Western Visayas was generally peaceful and orderly, the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6) reported on Monday, June 16, 2025.

No incidents related to the school opening were reported.

Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky, PRO 6 director, attributed the smooth opening to the combined efforts of law enforcement, schools, and local government units.

"We would like to thank everyone for their collective effort that led to the peaceful and orderly opening of classes here in our region," Wanky said.

He also assured continued high police visibility in the coming days to maintain safety and public order.

More than 1,000 police personnel were deployed across the region to secure the opening of classes and manage traffic congestion. Security measures included establishing police assistance desks in key locations, increasing patrol presence, and sustaining anti-criminality operations.

PRO 6 also coordinated with school authorities, local government units, barangay officials, traffic enforcement units, barangay tanods, and other community force multipliers to reinforce safety measures. (Leo Solinap/SunStar Philippines)
