THE Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6) turned over nine Personnel Carrier Mitsubishi Triton 4x4 patrol vehicles to police stations across the region around 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2025.

The turnover was done to enhance law enforcement operations ahead of the upcoming midterm elections.

The vehicles were distributed to the Municipal Police Stations (MPS) of Anilao, Dingle, and San Enrique in Iloilo; Libertad in Antique; Kalibo, Malay, New Washington, and Tangalan in Aklan; and the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC).

PRO 6 Director Brigadier General Jack Wanky said the selected police stations had been without new patrol vehicles for a long time, making them a priority for the distribution.

"Use these patrol vehicles to increase your efficiency, effectiveness and responsiveness in law enforcement and other public safety services," Wanky said.

He urged the public to maintain and maintain mobility assets, ensuring they are clean and in good running condition, following preventive maintenance guidelines, and following driving protocols to enhance their serviceability.

"This patrol vehicle can serve many purposes, especially this election period wherein the rate of deployment and police response is expected to increase, as we intend to intensify the random checkpoint and security coverage to political caucuses and rallies," Wanky said.

He also confirmed that Philippine National Police Chief General Rommel Francisco Marbil was supposed to attend the turnover ceremony but was unable to do so due to the recent arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte.

Wanky urged police personnel to take care of the vehicles to ensure their long-term use in maintaining peace and order in their jurisdictions.
