
THE Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6) seized around 1,729 grams of shabu and 57 grams of marijuana during weeklong anti-illegal drug operations from February 10 to 16, 2025.
A total of 111 drug suspects were arrested in 87 operations across the region.
PRO 6 Director Brigadier General Jack Wanky raised the Drug Enforcement Units, teams, and commanders for their continued dedication to the campaign against illegal drugs.
"Keep up the good work and maintain the intensity of our campaign," he said.
Of those arrested, 19 were classified as high-value individuals (HVIs), while 92 were identified as street-level individuals (SLIs).
In terms of drug confiscation, the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (Ippo) recorded the highest haul, with an estimated P4.7 million worth of illegal drugs and 18 arrests.
The Iloilo City Police Office (Icpo) followed with P2.8 million and 20 arrests, while the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) confiscated P1.9 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested 46 suspects.
The Nocppo registered the highest number of apprehensions, accounting for 41.44 percent of the total arrests.
The arrested suspects are currently under police custody for proper legal proceedings.
In a parallel effort, PRO 6's weeklong simultaneous anti-criminality and law enforcement operations, dubbed “Birada Semana,” led to the apprehension of 479 law offenders in 382 police operations conducted from February 10 to 16, 2025.
The breakdown of arrests per violation includes:
Illegal drugs: 111 arrests, including 19 HVIs and 92 SLIs
Wanted persons: 241 arrested, with 41 identified as most wanted and 200 as other wanted persons
Loose firearms: 21 individuals apprehended
Illegal gambling: 106 suspects arrested
Wanky commended the dedication of police commanders and personnel for their commitment to maintaining peace and order in Western Visayas.
"These statistics are a testament to your unwavering commitment and hard work to cleanse every community of illegal activities," he said.
Wanky expressed gratitude to community members, local government units, and other stakeholders for their support in achieving these accomplishments.
He also urged the public to remain vigilant and assist law enforcement by reporting suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest police unit.
The arrested suspects are currently in police custody for appropriate legal actions. (Leo Solinap)
