OPERATIVES of the Municipal Police Station (MPS) of Ibajay arrested the second Most Wanted Person (MWP) at the provincial level for rape in Barangay Poblacion, Ibajay, Aklan, through a joint police operation led by local and provincial units at 10:05 a.m. on March 31, 2026.

Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, regional director of Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6), commended the operating units for the successful arrest, saying, “This accomplishment reflects our unwavering commitment to track down and arrest individuals who attempt to evade justice, especially those accused of heinous crimes. We assure the public that PRO 6 will remain relentless in its efforts to ensure offenders are brought before the law and that our communities are kept safe.”

The suspect, identified as alias Ronald, 30, single, and a resident of Barangay Yawan, Ibajay, Aklan, was arrested by virtue of a warrant for the crime of rape under Article 266-A(1) in relation to Article 266-B of the Revised Penal Code, as amended.

Court records showed that the warrant was issued on June 13, 2025, by the Regional Trial Court, Sixth Judicial Region, Branch 3, in Kalibo, Aklan, with no bail recommended.

The operation was spearheaded by Ibajay MPS, with support from the Aklan Police Provincial Office (AKPPO) Trackers Team, Malinao MPS, Aklan Maritime Police Station (MARPSTA), and the 2nd Aklan Provincial Mobile Force Company (APMFC).

Police said the suspect is now in the custody of Ibajay MPS and is awaiting proper disposition before the court.

PRO 6 reiterated its commitment to intensify efforts to locate and arrest wanted persons, particularly those facing serious criminal charges, as part of its campaign to maintain peace and order in the region. (Leo Solinap)
