PRIVATE Justin Dagsan of the Philippine Army’s 61st Infantry (Hunter) Battalion, with headquarters in Miagao, Iloilo, saved a 15-year-old boy from electrocution in Barangay Lublub, Barangay Lublub, Valderama, Antique, demonstrating prompt action and bravery while off-duty around 3 p.m. on June 24, 2025.

Dagsan encountered a panicked young girl crying for help, claiming someone was being electrocuted. He instinctively rushed to the scene and found alias John, caught in the grip of a live electrical wire, clinging to a mango tree.

Upon arriving at the scene, Dagsan, aware of the danger, swiftly hurried a rock at the live wire, dislodging it and saving a boy from death. The boy then fell to the ground, escaping further harm.

“We are forever thankful to Dagsan for his bravery and quick thinking,” said the boy’s parents, expressing gratitude for the soldier’s intervention. “He saved our son’s life.”

Authorities are investigating the source of the dangerous electrical wire.
