A 37-YEAR-OLD pond caretaker identified as a high-value individual (HVI) was arrested, and approximately 155 grams of suspected shabu worth P1,054,000 were seized in a buy-bust in Barangay Tabuc, Pontevedra, Capiz, at around 9:50 p.m. on August 10, 2025.
Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, regional director of the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6), praised the arresting team for their swift and coordinated action.
“This accomplishment reflects our unwavering commitment to cleanse Western Visayas of illegal drugs. Every gram seized means lives saved and communities protected," he said.
Ligan stated that they will continue to exert relentless efforts to ensure the safety of the region for all.
The suspect, known as alias Balas, is a resident of Pontevedra, Capiz.
He was apprehended by operatives of the Pontevedra Municipal Police Station (MPS) during an anti-drug operation that was coordinated and executed following weeks of surveillance.
Recovered from the suspect were 22 plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, buy-bust money, and several non-drug paraphernalia believed to be used in the illegal trade.
