POLICE arrested two top most wanted persons in separate operations in Dumangas and Bingawan, Iloilo, on June 3, 2025, as part of a regionwide campaign against fugitives and drug offenders led by the Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO 6).

In Dumangas, the tracker team of the Dumangas Municipal Police Station (MPS), led by Police Major Kenn Albert Lepsia, arrested the fifth most wanted person (MWP) in the regional level identified as alias Koy, 39, from Barangay Sapao.

The arrest was conducted around 11 a.m. in Barangay Talusan, based on a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court, Sixth Judicial Region, Branch 68, Dumangas, for violation of Section 5, Article II of Republic Act (RA) 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

No bail was recommended.

Koy had been a fugitive since July 14, 2024, after evading arrest during a buy-bust in Barangay PD Monfort North, Dumangas, shortly after completing a transaction with a police poseur-buyer.

“Our tracker team truly showed outstanding performance and unwavering dedication in carrying out our mission,” said Police Colonel Roland Bulalacao, officer-in-charge of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (Ippo).

He emphasized the commitment of Ilonggo cops to apprehend fugitives and neutralize the drug network, thereby enhancing the province's safety.

In a separate operation earlier that morning, the tracker team of the Bingawan MPS, led by Police Lieutenant Philip Girao, arrested the most wanted person in Bingawan -- alias Tim, 25, a resident of Barangay Inamyungan.

He was apprehended at 8:30 a.m. in the same barangay based on an arrest warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court, Sixth Judicial Region, Branch 76, Janiuay, for three counts of Rape by Carnal Knowledge under Article 266-A, Paragraph 1 of the Revised Penal Code as amended by RA 8353.

No bail was recommended.

“This apprehension is a crucial development in our fight against serious crime across the province,” Bulalacao said.

He said the Ippo is dedicated to bringing all wanted individuals to justice and ensuring their safety for victims and their families.

Both suspects are currently in the custody of their respective municipal police stations, awaiting turnover to the courts. (Leo Solinap)
