TEN individuals were killed while over 30 others were hurt in a multiple-vehicle collision along the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway Thursday, May 1, 2025.

In a radio interview, Tarlac Provincial Police Office chief Lieutenant Colonel Romel Santos said the five vehicles involved in the incident were a car, a van, a sports utility vehicle (SUV), a trailer truck and a bus.

He said based on initial investigation, the four vehicles were on queue at the Tarlac City Toll Plaza when they were hit by the bus.

The bus first hit a passenger van, which contains people on their way to a children’s camp.

The van then hit the sports utility vehicle in front of it, which subsequently rammed to a trailer truck.

The passenger van and the SUV were both totally wrecked.

The driver of the SUV and his wife both died on the spot while their two-year-old son survived. The family were on their way to Baguio City for a vacation.

The eight other victims were all passengers of the van.

Santos said according to the bus driver, he fell asleep without noticing that they are already approaching the toll plaza.

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon has ordered the Land Transportation Franchise Regulatory board (LTFRB) to issue a temporary suspension order against the bus company involved. (TPM/SunStar Philippines)
