DUTERTE Youth party-list chairperson Ronald Cardema filed on Thursday, May 8, 2025, an impeachment complaint against President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

Cardema, former chairperson of the National Youth Commission, along with his wife Marie, filed the impeachment complaints against Marcos before the House of Representatives.

In a social media post, Cardema said the complaint was “for allowing the transfer of a Filipino Citizen, former President Rodrigo Duterte, to foreigners.”

The complaints will be endorsed by Duterte Youth party-list representative Drixie Mae Cardema.

On March 11, Duterte was arrested and was immediately flown to the Netherlands via private jet for his turn over to the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The ICC has ordered Duterte’s arrest amid its ongoing investigation into the alleged crime against humanity in the country during the implementation of his drug war from 2011 to 2019, when he was the mayor of Davao City and subsequently when he served as the President.

Marcos earlier maintained that Duterte’s arrest is part of the country’s commitment to the International Criminal Police Organization, recognizing that the ICC no longer has jurisdiction over the country.

He said he does not see it as a violation of the country’s sovereignty.

On the orders of Duterte, the Philippine government withdrew its membership from the Rome Statute, which established the ICC in 2018. The withdrawal was finalized in 2019. (TPM/SunStar Philippines)
