TWO high school students were critically injured in a shooting incident inside the Santa Rosa Central School in Nueva Ecija Thursday, August 7, 2025.
In a radio interview, Police Colonel Heryl Bruno, director of the Nueva Ecija Provincial Police Office, said the 18-year-old suspect shot the 15-year-old female victim inside her classroom around 10:45 a.m.
Bruno said the suspect, who was from another school, then shot himself in the head.
“Parang mag-on and off po silang magkarelasyon. Mukhang ‘yung babae nakikipaghiwalay na. Mukhang hindi matanggap nitong lalaki kaya pinuntahan sa eskwelahan,” Bruno said.
(They seemed to have an on-and-off relationship. It appears the girl was trying to break up with him. It seems the boy couldn’t accept it, so he went to the school.)
The two students were rushed to the hospital for medical treatment.
Bruno said the investigation into the incident is still ongoing. (TPM/SunStar Philippines)
