MANILA – Over 27,000 people in three regions were affected by the combined effects of the southwest monsoon or "habagat" and Typhoon Bising (international name Danas), the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Monday.

In its 8 a.m. report, the NDRRMC said the 27,401 affected families or 82,548 individuals were from 14 barangays in Regions 1 (Ilocos Region), 3 (Central Luzon) and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

As of the time of the report, the NDRRMC said only two families or nine persons are sheltered in two evacuation centers while 1,017 families or 3,002 individuals are being served and helped elsewhere.

The Office of Civil Defense earlier said the affected families include those displaced by the inclement weather and those who do not need to be transferred or removed from their residences.

Meanwhile, the NDRRMC said 14 houses were damaged — two in Region 3, classified as "totally damaged" and 12 in CAR described as "partially damaged.

The NDRRMC has yet to receive a report on the amount of infrastructure and agriculture damage, as well as the number of casualties, as of the time of the report. (PNA)
