THE chief of Barangay Salitran, Dasmariñas City in Cavite along with two councilors and a former barangay watchman, locally known as tanod, were killed in a shooting incident during a flag raising ceremony Monday, May 26, 2025.
In a report, the Dasmariñas police said based on initial investigation, the former barangay tanod identified as Ariel, 50, showed up during a flag-raising ceremony and gunned down the victims— barangay captain Raul Atarde Ballos, 56; and councilors Jose Lagones, 65, and Marvin Cañete, 54, at point blank, which resulted to their instantaneous death.
Sangguniang Kabataan secretary Christine Joseph Bonus also sustained serious injury during the shooting.
The suspect also killed himself.
