EIGHT individuals died after a dump truck fell off a ravine in Lebak, Sultan Kudarat.
According to a report from the Police Regional Office in Soccsksargen (PRO 12), the mini dump truck, which was carrying 21 individuals including the driver, was en route to Cotabato City from Barangay Poloy-Poloy when the incident occurred around 5:20 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, in Barangay Christianuevo.
“Upon reaching a downhill curved section of the road in Barangay Christianuevo, the vehicle's brakes malfunctioned, causing the driver to lose control,” the police said.
“The truck bumped into concrete debris from ongoing road construction and subsequently fell into a ravine. As a result, the driver and his passengers sustained injuries,” it added.
The driver and passengers were brought to Sultan Kudarat District Hospital for medical treatment. (TPM/SunStar Philippines)
