JUST a day after being cleared by the Commission on Elections (Comelec), the Bagong Henerasyon (BH) party-list was finally proclaimed by the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC) as among the winning groups in the May 12 polls.
Sans any fanfare, the NBOC issued the certificate of proclamation (COP) to BH party-list and its first nominee Roberto Gerard Nazal Friday, June 6, 2025.
The COP was received by BH President Rochelle Custodio and BH Secretary General Bernadette Banto.
"They didn't want a proclamation ceremony anymore," Comelec Chairman George Garcia said.
BH party-list is entitled to one seat after getting 319,803 votes in the last elections.
On Thursday, the Comelec issued a certificate of finality and an entry of judgment favoring BH party-list.
The two documents effectively made the decision to junk the disqualification case filed against BH party-list as final and executory.
The Comelec First Division dismissed the petition to disqualify the BH party-list in the May 12 polls citing the failure of the petitioner to comply with the mandatory requirements.
This was affirmed by the Comelec en banc saying the First Division was correct in insisting on the importance of complying with mandatory requirements set in the Rules. (Anton Banal/SunStar Philippines)
