The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday reminded voters to be alert while in polling precincts as heat index could hit the "danger level" in some areas.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that synoptic stations in Sangley Point, Cavite City and Catarman, Northern Samar may reach 45 degree celsius.
Heat indices between 42 and 51 degrees celcius under the danger category bring the risk for heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke, the DOH said.
Dizziness, excessive sweating, fatigue, headache, and nausea are common symptoms of heat-related illnesses.
It advised the public to wear light clothing and keep themselves hydrated as they wait to cast their votes.
“Magpahinga, kumain ng tama at wag uminom ng alak, para tumibay ang resistensya at maiwasan ang influenza-like illness o mala-trangkasong sakit dahil sa pabago-bagong panahon (Rest, eat right, and avoid alcohol consumption, to avoid influenza-like illnesses due to changing weather)," it said. (PNA)
