THE Catholic Bishop’s Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) urged the Filipino faithful to consider spending and observing the Holy Week not just by themselves but with their respective families.
In a video message, CBCP President Archbishop Gilbert Garcera said it would be good if Holy Week activities are observed by having family reunions.
"I hope that during this Holy Week, it is really a time for the family praying together, going to confession, receiving the Lord, and making sure that at the end of this week, Christ is alive in our midst," said Garcera.
"Let this be a moment for the family, for the whole community to pray, to reflect, and to be renewed as we realize the many faults and sins we have committed," he added.
In doing so, the CBCP head said they should focus on reflecting and celebrating the passion, death, and resurrection of Christ.
"My dear brothers and sisters, as we celebrate this week, the Holy Week, make sure that we respond to a reflection, a moment of conversion, and a moment of rejoicing because the Lord is alive in us," said Garcera.
The Holy Week is the final week of the Lenten Season, and is considered the most sacred time in Christianity as it commemorates the last days of Jesus Christ’s life.
During the Holy Week, Filipinos engage in several religious traditions, such as Visita Iglesia, Stations of the Cross, pabasa, processions, and going to confession. (Anton Banal/SunStar Philippines)
