TWO China Coast Guard (CCG) ships shadowed the Atin Ito Coalition vessels during a civilian mission in the waters off El Nido, Palawan.

In a statement, the coalition said CCG 3306 and CCG 21549 have been spotted shadowing the Atin Ito ships 54 nautical miles off the coast of El Nido.

They were then on their way to Pagasa Island.

“Both Philippines and China have issued radio challenges,” it said in a statement.

“CCG 3306 is 3 [nautical miles] away from Atin Ito ship while the other one, CCG 21549, is 5 [nautical miles] away,” it added.

The Atin Ito Coalition held a sunset musical event in Palawan on Monday, May 26.

It will then run its course around the vicinity of Pagasa Island on May 27 for the conduct of Concert at Sea for Peace.

The event aims to promote peace, unity, and solidarity in the contested waters. (TPM/SunStar Philippines)
