THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Saturday, August 2, 2025, said Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) voters who have turned 18 years old no longer need to register again as regular voters.

In an online interview, Comelec Chairman George Garcia said youth voters who are now eligible to vote in the barangay elections need not register again.

"Those who have turned 18 years old will be automatically transferred. We will just import the registration (records) from SK to regular voters," said Garcia.

"We will automatically import them. We will just extract their records from SK to regular voters," he added.

SK voters are those aged 15 to 30 on or before the December 1 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).

On the other hand, regular voters eligible to vote for barangay officials are those aged at least 18.

On August 1, the Comelec resumed its voter registration activities nationwide, which will run until August 10.

On the first day, applicants crowded the Offices of the Election Officer, satellite registration sites across the country, and the Special Register Anywhere/Anytime Program (SRAP) sites. (Anton Banal/SunStar Philippines)
