WITH just over two months before the October 13 Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections (BPE), the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, said it is necessary to pursue their voters education activities.

In an online interview, Comelec Chairman George Garcia said the voters in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Barmm) are still in need to be adequately informed on the electoral exercise.

"Talagang madami nagsabi, kahit members ng parliamento, hindi pa sapat kaalaman ng mga kababayan," said Garcia.

(Many have said — even members of parliament — that our fellow citizens still don’t have enough information.)

"That's the reason bakit kailangan natin gawin na mas malalim at malawak ang voters education natin," he added.

(That’s why we need to make our voters’ education deeper and more extensive.)

He said they will seek the assistance of civil society organizations, citizens arm, and other stakeholders.

"Humihingi kami ng tulong sa lahat, dahil hindi kaya ng Comelec lang yan," said Garcia.

(We’re asking for everyone’s help because Comelec can’t do it alone.)

For his part, Comelec Spokesman John Rex Laudiangco said their field officials are already preparing to hold "roadshows" for their voters education activities.

"We can expect each Office of the Election Officer to have their respective schedules kasi may kanya-kanyang voting machines specifically intended for their roadshow," said Laudiangco. (Anton Banal/SunStar Philippines)
