DESPITE not being administratively part of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Barmm), the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Friday, August 15, 2025, said the gun ban currently in effect in the region is also imposed in Isabela City.
In a social media post, the Comelec said the gun ban will be imposed in Isabela City for the duration of the election period for the October 13 Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections (BPE).
"The City of Isabela is covered by the gun ban during the election period in connection with the October 13, 2025 BPE," said the Comelec.
It said this is because of the geographic location of the City of Isabela being within the province of Basilan.
"The geographic location of the City of Isabela necessitates its inclusion in the coverage of the 2025 BPE Gun Ban despite not being part of the province of Basilan, politically and administratively, and of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao," explained the Comelec.
The election period for the October 13 BPE runs from August 14 to October 28, 2025.
