THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) reminded the public that the election gun ban remains in effect until June 11, 2025.
Comelec Chairman George Garcia said the gun ban continues until the end of the Election Period.
"We are reminding the public that the gun ban is still in effect. It's effective until 30 days after Election Day or until June 11," Garcia said.
"Therefore, those without exemption from the Comelec must not attempt to carry their firearms until June 11," he added.
Garcia warned that those caught carrying firearms without exemptions will be held liable.
"If you get arrested, you'll face two charges -- illegal possession of firearms and violation of the Comelec gun ban," said Garcia.
The law prohibits bearing, carrying, or transporting firearms or other deadly weapons during the Election Period, unless authorized by the Commission.
