THE Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) vowed on Monday, July 21, 2025, to continuously provide assistance to families of the 13 missing Filipino crew members of M/V Eternity C, which was attacked by Houthi rebels earlier this month.
In a statement, DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said they are fully committed to provide continuing aid to the families of the Filipino seafarers who remain unaccounted for.
"Our officials immediately met with the families via video conference calls and conducted personal visits in their homes across the country over these last two weeks," said Cacdac.
"We shall sustain these personal assurances of support and assistance until they are reunited with their families," he added.
To recall, M/V Eternity C, which had 21 Filipino crew members, was attacked twice by Houthi rebels in the Red Sea.
Eight of the Filipino crew members of the vessel were rescued and safely repatriated.
The other 13 Filipino seafarers remain unaccounted for as reports surfaced that some were killed while others remain missing.
Recently, reports came out that the search efforts for the unaccounted crew members have been called off.
But according to the Department, efforts to find the missing Filipino seafarers are being pursued.
Cacdac assured that they continue to push for the immediate finding of the 13 crew members.
"We continue to account for the missing seafarers and shall sustain these (efforts)," said the official.
"The DMW, in coordination with the Philippine Embassy, the Department of Foreign Affairs, shipowners, and licensed manning agency, continue to exhaust all efforts to account for the missing crew members," Cacdac added. (Anton Banal/SunStar Philippines)
