

LEGAZPI CITY – Families affected by Severe Tropical Storm Crising (international name Wipha) and the southwest monsoon received government aid amounting PHP958,804 worth of relief items through the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Bicol (DSWD-5).
In a report on Monday, DSWD-5 Director Norman Laurio said the agency has stockpiles and standby funds amounting to PHP271 million ready for distribution to affected areas in the region.
Local government units and the Philippine Coast Guard provided hot meals to persons stranded in ports and land transport stations.
The DSWD provided a total of PHP920,314.05 worth of food and non-food items; distributed about 483 family food packs to residents in 17 barangays, including Bagasbas, Awitan, San Isidro, and Mambalite—some of the storm's hardest-hit areas.
Latest report showed that a total of 3,966 families, comprising 18,160 individuals, were affected across 56 barangays in Albay, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes and Masbate.
About 21 families or 34 persons are taking shelter in Camarines Sur and at least four houses sustained damage due to the storm. (PNA)
