THE Department of Education (DepEd) has denied a viral social media post claiming that an additional grade level will be added to senior high school starting the upcoming school year.
In a statement, the DepEd labeled as “fake news” a Facebook post featuring a publication material that falsely indicates the implementation of a Grade 13 beginning School Year 2025–2026.
It said there will be no changes in the high school program in the country’s basic education.
(The DepEd once again reminds the public to be cautious and discerning against misinformation.)
“Para sa opisyal na mga anunsiyo at impormasyon tungkol sa basic education, bisitahin lamang ang official DepEd Philippines social media accounts,” it added.

Under DepEd Order 12, Series of 2025, the opening of classes in public schools for SY 2025-2026 will be on June 16.
It will run until March 31, 2026, which consists of 197 class days inclusive of end-of-school-year rites. (TPM/SunStar Philippines)
