THE Republic of Croatia is looking to hire overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), particularly hotel workers, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said.
In a statement, the DMW said Filipino hotel workers are being eyed for the pilot testing of the government-to-government employment program between the Philippines and Croatia.
"This milestone marks a significant step toward facilitating safe, ethical, and government-to-government job opportunities for Filipinos in Croatia's hospitality sector," said the DMW.
The department issued the statement after the signing of the implementing guidelines for the Pilot Project on the Recruitment and Employment of Filipino Hotel Workers in Croatia.
Under the government-to-government arrangement, Croatian employers will shoulder the recruitment-related costs for Filipino workers subject to permissible fees agreed upon by both parties.
The pact also establishes a clear dispute resolution mechanism that shall be guided by both Philippine and Croatian labor laws.
OFWs will also undergo Pre-Departure Orientation Seminar (PDOS) conducted by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (Owwa), and a Pre-Flight Briefing led by the DMW Pre-Employment and Government Placement Bureau (PEGPB).
"The agreement strengthens the bilateral partnership between the two nations, rooted in mutual respect, trust, and a commitment to shared prosperity," said the DMW. (Anton Banal/SunStar Philippines)
