(UPDATED) President Rodrigo Duterte has approved the budget for the cash assistance to be distributed to the low-income residents of Bataan and Laguna, which are also both under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque Jr. on Thursday, August 12, 2021, said the budget has been released to the local government units (LGU) of Bataan and Laguna.
Bataan is under ECQ until August 15 while Laguna is under ECQ until August 22.
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) spokesperson Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said the approved budget was P3.78 billion, broken down into P2.72 billion for Laguna, P700 million for Bataan and additional P368 million for Metro Manila.
The government earlier released P10.89 billion for cash assistance in the National Capital Region.
The government distributes P1,000 per individual or P4,000 per family.
The NCR, Bataan and Laguna were placed under ECQ to prevent the further spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19). (Third Anne Peralta-Malonzo / SunStar Philippines)
