TROPICAL Depression Emong has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) as of 11 a.m. Saturday, July 26, 2025, the state weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that while no tropical cyclone wind signals are currently in effect, Emong continues to enhance the Southwest Monsoon (habagat), bringing heavy rains and strong winds across large parts of the country.

Affected land areas include Batanes, Babuyan Islands, the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, the Bicol Region, Northern Samar, Western Visayas, Negros Occidental, and Davao Oriental.

These conditions are expected to persist through Monday, July 28.

Pagasa also warned of rough to moderate sea conditions in various coastal waters, especially in northern Luzon and the western seaboards of the country.

Wave heights may reach up to four meters, and small vessels, particularly those that are ill-equipped or manned by inexperienced mariners, are strongly advised not to sail.

As of 11 a.m., Emong was located 695 kilometers (km) northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, with maximum sustained winds of 55 km/hour (h) and gusts of up to 70 km/h.

It is moving north-northeastward over the East China Sea at 35 km/h and is expected to weaken into a remnant low by tonight. (JGS/SunStar Philippines)
