THE Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested the leader of a bogus Indigenous People’s Organization, Federal Tribal Group, which is based in Surigao del Norte.

CIDG Director Major General Nicolas Torre III said Jorgeto Corpuz Santisas, also known as Datu Adlaw, was arrested in Barangay Sabang during the service of an arrest warrant against him for usurpation of authority.

The charges against Santisas stemmed from his orders to his group’s members to padlock several establishments in the province for failing to pay them.

Also arrested were 23 alleged members of the group, including another leader identified as Lourdes Salinas.

The organization tagged themselves as the new government of the country and is insisting on their rights over the ancestral lands.

The CIDG also rescued nine children during the operation. (TPM/SunStar Philippines)
