MANILA – The southwest monsoon (habagat) will bring rains across Luzon on Monday, the weather bureau said.
In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said monsoon rains are forecast over Ilocos Region, Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Zambales, and Bataan.
It will also cause scattered rains and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cavite, Batangas, Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, and the rest of Central Luzon.
Floods and landslides are possible in those areas due to moderate to heavy rains.
Meanwhile, habagat will also cause isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of Luzon.
Localized thunderstorms will also cause isolated rain showers across the Visayas and Mindanao.
As of 2 a.m., no low pressure area (LPA) is being monitored for possible tropical cyclone formation.
Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas are forecast over extreme northern Luzon.
Elsewhere, light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will prevail.
Meanwhile, amid the habagat season, the heat index could peak at 46°C in ISU Echague, Isabela; and 45°C in Tuguegarao, Cagayan and Dipolog, Zamboanga del Sur.
