A HIGHWAY Patrol Group (HPG) intelligence officer was heavily injured in an alleged robbery-holdup incident in Makati City.
In a press conference on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, Philippine National Police (PNP) HPG spokesperson Police Lieutenant Nadame Malang said the officer (name withheld for security purposes) was in a carwash shop in Barangay San Isidro around 8 p.m. Friday, August 1, 2025, when two armed men approached him and tried to snatch his gold necklace.
The suspects failed to take his gold necklace as the victim immediately ran, prompting them to chase and shoot at him.
The victim fell on the ground, sustaining a total of nine gunshot wounds.
The suspects snatched his necklace, cellphone and wallet, before fleeing aboard a motorcycle.
“Based din sa impormasyon na nakuha natin bago man mangyari or ito pong scenario na ito ay preparation niya para kitain sana ‘yung isa nating confidential agent para sa hinawakan na Coplan kaso nga hindi nangyari na ito’y mapuntahan gayon yun ang sinapit ng ating kasamahan,” said Malang.

Malang said the victim is now in a stable condition in a hospital in Metro Manila.
He said investigators are digging deeper on the possible motive of the incident.
Malang said it may also be related to his job as an intelligence officer.
He said the Makati City Police have already identified the suspects in the incident and the manhunt operation is now ongoing. (TPM/SunStar Philippines)
