Infra damage due to recent calamities reaches nearly P10.6B

THE amount of damage incurred in the infrastructure sector following the series of calamities that struck the country has reached nearly P10.6 billion, while agricultural damages exceeded P2.2 billion, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Friday, August 1, 2025.

In a situational report, the NDRRMC underscored the massive destruction across key infrastructure such as roads, bridges, flood-control systems, schools, health centers, and irrigation facilities.

The regions with the most infrastructure damage were Central Luzon at P3.8 billion, Ilocos at P3.1 billion, the Cordilleras at nearly P1.3 billion, and Calabarzon at more than P1.08 billion.

Of the total agricultural losses, P1.1 billion were in Central Luzon, P405 million in Mimaropa, P156 million in Western Visayas, and P155.7 million in Ilocos.

Agricultural losses were attributed to extensive damage to rice, corn, and high-value crops, as well as losses in fishery infrastructure, including fish pens and aquaculture facilities.

The NDRRMC said a total of 55,550 houses across all regions in the country were damaged by the recent series of weather disturbances.

It said the number of reported fatalities stood at 37, while eight individuals remain missing.

A total of 8,263,199 persons or 2,272,696 families were affected by the onslaught of calamities in 8,503 barangays across the country.

The value of assistance provided to affected families has reached more than P862 million.

The disaster bureau said 242 cities and municipalities were affected in Cebu, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Romblon, Benguet, Antique, Iloilo, La Union, Pangasinan, Dagupan, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Tarlac, Zambales, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Laguna, the National Capital Region, and Negros Occidental.
