1ID conducts cultural sensitivity training

ZAMBOANGA. A TOTAL of 129 non-commissioned officers and 20 officers from the various line unit and offices of the Army’s 1st Infantry Division (ID) have attended a two-day cultural sensitivity training.

The two-day training was held from July 5 to 6 at the officer’s clubhouse of Camp Major Cesar Sang-an that houses the 1ID headquarters in Pulacan village, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur.

The training was initiated by the 1ID's Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Training and Education headed by Colonel Rommel Cabanayan.

The cultural sensitivity training was aimed at promoting respect and understanding for different cultures, as well as achieving military unity and cohesiveness, improve relationships through cross-cultural communication, overcoming language barriers, promoting teamwork and collaboration, and fostering respect within the military community.

"Through the training, we're equipping our troops with the knowledge and skills to foster respect, appreciation, and effective communication with different cultures they encounter in their line of duty,” Cabanayan said in a statement.

"We believe that respect and empathy are the foundation of strong relationships. By fostering cultural sensitivity, we're not just building better soldiers, but also creating compassionate global citizens." he added.

He expressed his appreciation for the activity's success initiated by his team. (SunStar Zamboanga)
