4 'carnappers' killed in Bulacan shootout

FOUR suspected carnappers were killed in a shootout with policemen in Plaridel, Bulacan on Sunday dawn, November 3.

Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Luzon acting director Brigadier General Leonardo Cesneros said based on the report of the victim, he was about to board his vehicle after buying from a convenience store in Barangay Banga Dos when two men wearing bonnet approched him and poked him with their guns.

The victim said the suspects asked for his car keys and took it away.

He immediately reported the incident to the police which prompted them to alert concerned units with the vehicle's plate number.

The vehicle was sighted along bypass road and the encounter ensued when the driver of the vehicle refused to stop at a checkpoint in Barangay Bagong Silang around 3:50 p.m.

Cesneros said the suspects fired upon the cops which prompted them to fireback and kill them.

Recovered from the suspects were two caliber 38 pistols, one caliber 45 pistol and one Uzi submachine gun.

A policeman was hit by a bullet in his bulletproof vest during the firefight.

Cesneros said they are still identifying the suspects who were believed to be members of a carnapping group involved in gun-for-hire operations and hold up incidents. (SunStar Philippines)
