Additional Sputnik V, Sinovac vaccines arrive

THE Philippines received on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, 3.0 million doses of the Sinovac vaccine against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines and 15,000 doses of the Sputnik V component 2 vaccine.

The National Task Force (NTF) Against Covid-19 said the Sinovac shipment arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 at around 6 p.m. Tuesday while the Sputnik V vaccine shipment arrived at Terminal 3 at around 11 p.m.

Both were procured by the national government. The Sputnik V component 2 is used as second dose.

With these latest shipments, the Philippines has received a total of 51,885,590 doses of various Covid-19 vaccines.

NTF chief implementer and vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said 25 million additional doses are expected to arrive in September.

He said the supply will be composed of 12 million doses of Sinovac, five million doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, two million doses of Moderna, one million doses of AstraZeneca, one million doses of Sputnik Light, three million doses from the Covax Facility and one million doses to be donated by a bilateral partner.

A total of 137 million doses are expected to be delivered by the end of the year.

As of August 30, a total of 33,306,355 doses have been administered nationwide.

Over 13.8 million individuals have now been fully vaccinated against Covid-19. (Third Anne Peralta-Malonzo / SunStar Philippines)
