THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested an alleged Norwegian pedophile wanted by authorities in Oslo for sexually molesting minors.

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente identified the Norwegian as 53-year-old Alexander Calapini-Solberg, who was arrested last Monday, February 7, in Barangay 48-A Cabunggaan, Laoag City, Ilocos Norte by operatives from the bureau’s fugitive search unit (FSU).

Morente said Solberg is a high-profile fugitive who is wanted in Norway due to a string of sex offense cases that were filed against him in court.

“We are going to deport him for being an undesirable alien. His continued presence in the country poses a serious threat to our Filipino children, anyone of whom could be his next victim,” Morente said in a statement.

The BI chief said he issued the mission order for Solberg’s arrest at the request of Norwegian authorities, which informed the bureau that the latter is already an undocumented alien as his passport was already revoked by the Oslo government.

According to BI-FSU Chief Rendel Ryan Sy, an Interpol Red Notice was also issued to Solsberg in December 2021 based on arrest warrants that were issued against him by Folio Og Norde Ostfold District Court in Norway.

Solsberg’s warrant is based on at least four counts of molestation of young children on repeated occasions.

Solsberg is currently detained at the BI Warden Facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City pending deportation proceedings. (PR)
