Bloodletting drive to welcome new Manila archbishop

THE Archdiocese of Manila is set to hold a bloodletting campaign to welcome its new archbishop, Cardinal Jose Advincula.

In a statement, the archdiocese announced that there will be a bloodletting drive at the Philippine Red Cross - National Blood Center in Manila from June 15 to 18, and from June 21 to 23.

Archbishop Jose F. Cardinal Advincula will be installed as the 33rd Archbishop of Manila on June 24, 2021, according to Manila Archdiocese Human Resource Development Department (HRDD) director Fr. Sanny de Claro.

The bloodletting drive is also in response to the latest call of Manila Apostolic Administrator Bishop Broderick Pabillo for acts of charity and generosity.

"This bloodletting activity is for the benefit of our needy brethren,” de Claro said.

The Archdiocese of Manila has been conducting bloodletting activities as birthday gifts to then Archbishop of Manila and current Prefect of the Vatican’s Congregation for the Evangelizations of People in Rome, Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle.

De Claro, however, reminded those who have been vaccinated against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) to wait for 28 days before they could donate blood. (HDT / SunStar Philippines)
