THE Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has arrested a policeman who allegedly served as a gunman in the killing of a businessman in Dumaguete City on the orders of the “Teveses.”

In a statement on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, CIDG director Brigadier General Romeo Caramat said Staff Sergeant Noel Santa Ana Alabata Jr. also known as Alfonso Edena Tan was arrested in front of the PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) building in Camp Crame on May 16, 2023.

Alabata has two standing arrest warrants, one for attempted murder issued by the Branch 35 of the Regional Trial Court of Dumaguete City with fixed bail recommended at P120,000 and the other for attempted homicide issued by 7th Judicial Region, MTCC Branch 1, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, with P36,000 bail recommended.

“The accused was formerly assigned to PDEG Western Visayas (Region 6) and allegedly used by the Teves as a hitman for a certain “Ong”, a rival of the Teves in their business,” said Caramat.

“Patuloy ang pag-verify namin sa akusado na itinuturong gunman ng mga Teves upang malaman kung meron pa itong mga kinasasangkutan na kaso. Magiging patas kami sa lahat ng aming makukuhang impormasyon at sisiguraduhin na mananagot siya sa ating batas,” he added.

The suspect was brought to the CIDG office for proper documentation and custody while awaiting a commitment order from the issuing court.

As of this posting, Caramat has yet to clarify who's Teves he is referring to. (SunStar Philippines)
