Disinfected Navotas fish port reopens on Easter Sunday

THE Department of Agriculture- Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA) reopened on Easter Sunday, April 12, the Navotas Fish Port Complex (NFPC) said after a complete disinfection and clean-up of its five market halls and roads.

The market halls and roads were cleaned using liquid soap and rinsed using chlorinated water. The entire complex was disinfected and deodorized by a mixture of quaternary ammonium chloride, organic solvents, and phenoxybenzyl acetate.

According to PFDA general manager Glen A. Pangapalan, disinfection activities will be conducted again to ensure the health and safety of all the seafood sellers, buyers, and fish port workers against Covid-19.

“We are happy to inform the public that they can come back to the Navotas fish port today on Easter Sunday to resume their trading operations,” Pangapalan said.

The PFDA ensured the continuous supply of fish and to keep the prices affordable through said preventive measures.

Health and safety protocols such as mandatory wearing of face masks, no smoking policy, physical distancing, and wearing of protective clothing will still be strictly enforced within the NFPC. (PR)
