AS ARMED clashes rage in Sudan, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) have opened their hotline for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) as well as their kins.

In a social media post, the DMW and the Owwa declared readiness to provide any form of assistance to OFWs and their kins affected by the tension in Sudan.

Earlier, clashes erupted in Sudan between the camps of Sudan military chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) commander Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo.

According to the World Health Organization, more than 83 people have died and over 1,100 people injured across Sudan due to the fighting.

A total of 87 Filipinos have already requested to be repatriated to the Philippines.
