THE Department of Health (DOH) on Friday, September 23, 2023, advised residents of Metro Manila to stay indoors amid the threat of smog in the National Capital Region (NCR).

In a public advisory, the DOH said it is advising the public to avoid going outdoors and doing outdoor activities in order to reduce exposure to smog.

While indoors, it said residents are advised to close doors and windows to prevent smog from entering their houses.

The DOH also advised the public to always cover their nose and mouth with an N95 face mask.

The agency also urged the public to stay hydrated by drinking more water.

The DOH said those feeling adverse health effects due to smog may contact 1555 for teleconsultation.

On Friday, thick smog has blanketed almost the entirety of Metro Manila due to heavy traffic and thermal inversion.

The thick smog has forced all 17 local government units in the NCR to suspend classes at all levels. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
