Duterte re-appoints more envoys

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte has re-appointed his special envoys to China and International Public Relations, based on the documents released by Malacañang on Tuesday, May 29.

Duterte signed the re-appointment papers of Fernando Borja and William Lima on May 22.

Borja and Lima’s fresh term will start on July 1 and end on December 31.

The two will join Cheng Yong, who was also tapped by Duterte on May 23 to serve as special envoy to China for another period of six months. Yong’s appointment paper was signed by Duterte on May 23 but made public by Malacañang on Monday, May 28.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque Jr. earlier said Borja, Lima, and Yong were entrusted to promote “closer relationship” between the Philippines and China.

Duterte also picked Dante Ang anew as special envoy to International Public Relations.

Ang, a public relations expert who served as publicist of former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo from 1993 to 2003, will serve as Duterte’s special envoy from May 1 to October 31 this year.

As a special envoy to International Public Relations, Ang is mandated to assist the Department of Foreign Affairs and other relevant agencies in “generating a positive image for the Philippines related to the Philippine advocacies and policies.” (Ruth Abbey Gita/SunStar Philippines)
